Solar Electric Generators
Through a collaborative partnership with the Hong Kong and Des Moines AM Rotary Clubs, the Shining City Foundation leveraged a Rotary International Foundation matching grant to provide for solar-electric generators to nomadic yak herders in over 17 villages in remote areas of Yunnan, Province. These generators brought light and radio communication capability to these individuals for the first time. In addition, this project also provided yak butter churners to the local villagers to enhance their main source of productivity.
